This video captures a motorcycle journey through the stunning, yet challenging, landscapes of Tenerife, specifically highlighting the ascent to Masca, an incredible mountain village. We navigate hairpin bends and narrow single-track roads, encountering unexpected features like a tiny roundabout on a mountain and a massive bus causing traffic jams on a dangerous, steep road, leading to some hairy moments. We share our initial impressions of Masca village, noting its spectacular mountainous location and three-section layout, with the sea visible in the background. The video also touches on the cold, cloudy weather in the north of the island and the challenges of a prior knee injury while navigating steep hills.
We later discuss our overall experience of Tenerife, recommending staying in small villages like Villaflor for a more authentic feel of the natural landscape and local life, away from the typical tourist resorts. We praise the incredible national parks, especially Teide National Park with its volcano, and advise getting a permit well in advance if you wish to see the crater from the cable car’s summit. The most enjoyable aspect for us has been riding motorcycles, appreciating the scenery, stopping at cafes, and highlighting the TF 21 road as a perfect route for motorcycling. We also offer practical advice on renting motorcycles in Tenerife, noting that less powerful bikes like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, 500, or Interceptor 650 are ideal due to low-speed limits and the presence of drones and helicopters used by police to catch speeders in the national park. The video concludes with a strong recommendation for the Insta360 X5 camera, emphasizing its ability to capture comprehensive footage in challenging environments.
