Harley-Davidson had a surprise launch of the 2026 Super Glide FXD recently. This bike is a retro-styled, mid-size cruiser built on the Softail platform. It pays homage to the 1971 Super Glide that was brought out by Willie G. Davidson. Willie noticed a lot of custom builders, at he time, marrying the big twin, FLH frame with a more nimble Sportster front end. So he decided to create a “Factory Experimental” or FX model. This would be the genesis for a core motorcycle setup in Harley-Davidson’s lineup for the next 55 years. This concept has been applied to multiple cruisers throughout H-D’s history such as the FXR, Dyna, and now Softail. This is a serialized bike that is limited in production at 2,500.
